Gift of Care Terms & Conditions
1. Overview
Serengeti Care’s Gift of Care program allows individuals to purchase Reserved Caregiving Time for a recipient who may need companionship, assistance, or support during a challenging time. These terms govern the purchase, use, and refund of Gift of Care services. By purchasing a gift certificate, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
2. Gift Certificate Terms & Usage
Validity Period
- Gift certificates must be redeemed within 90 days from the date of purchase.
- Any unused caregiving hours will expire at the end of the 90-day validity period and cannot be refunded or transferred.
Non-Transferable
- Gift certificates are issued for a specific recipient and cannot be transferred to another person.
Geographical Confirmation
- By purchasing, you confirm that the recipient resides within Serengeti Care’s service areas, as listed on our website.
Service Area
- Care must be provided within Washington, Idaho, Oregon, or Montana, in areas where Serengeti Care operates.
- If the recipient lives outside our service area, the gift certificate may be refunded (see refund policy).
Scope of Services
- Services are limited to non-medical caregiving, companionship, and light assistance.
- Caregivers do not provide transportation. Recipients must arrange their own transportation if needed.
- Caregivers do not administer medications or perform medical treatments.
3. Minimum & Maximum Usage Limits
Minimum Usage
- The minimum caregiving time that can be scheduled per visit is 4 hours, with a minimum purchase of 8 hours.
Maximum Daily Usage
- Recipients may use up to 24 hours of care per day, subject to caregiver availability.
4. Service Scheduling & Cancellation Policy
Booking Appointments
- All services must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance to ensure caregiver availability.
Cancellation by Recipient
- If the recipient cancels with less than 24 hours’ notice, the scheduled time may be forfeited and deducted from the purchased caregiving time.
Cancellation by Serengeti Care
- If Serengeti Care must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, an alternative appointment will be offered.
5. Refund Policy
Gift certificates are non-refundable, except in the following situations:
- Recipient Refusal – If the intended recipient declines caregiving services and refuses participation.
- Caregiver Availability – If Serengeti Care is unable to match a caregiver that meets the recipient’s preferences and comfort level.
- Service Area Limitations – If the recipient lives in an area where Serengeti Care does not provide services.
- Medical or Emergency Situations – If the recipient experiences a significant medical change (e.g., hospitalization, relocation to a care facility) that prevents them from receiving care.
- Unforeseen Circumstances – If natural disasters, extreme weather, or major disruptions prevent Serengeti Care from fulfilling the service.
- Lack of Scheduling Availability – If Serengeti Care cannot accommodate the recipient’s requested dates and times after reasonable attempts.
- Safety Concerns – If Serengeti Care determines that providing care in the recipient’s home poses a significant risk to the caregiver or recipient.
Refund Request Process
- Refund requests must be submitted in writing to care@serengeticare.com within the 90-day validity period.
- Each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility.
- Approved refunds will be processed within 30 days.
- If a refund is not applicable, the gift certificate will expire at the end of the 90-day period.
6. Recipient & Caregiver Matching
- Serengeti Care will make every effort to match caregivers based on the recipient’s needs, preferences, and comfort level.
- Before service begins, an assessment may be conducted to determine the recipient’s needs and ensure a suitable care plan.
7. Code of Conduct & Responsibilities
Recipient & Household Responsibilities
- The recipient and their household must maintain a safe and respectful environment for the caregiver.
- Requests must remain within the scope of non-medical services.
Caregiver Responsibilities
- Caregivers are expected to provide kind, compassionate, and professional care in accordance with Serengeti Care’s quality standards.
8. No Cash Value & Non-Exchangeable
- Gift of Care certificates hold no cash value and cannot be redeemed for monetary compensation.
- Certificates cannot be exchanged for other Serengeti Care services outside the Gift of Care program.
9. Modification or Termination of Program
- Serengeti Care reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Gift of Care program at any time.
- In such cases, reasonable efforts will be made to honor existing certificates or issue appropriate refunds as applicable.
10. Limitation of Liability
- Serengeti Care and its caregivers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the Gift of Care program.
- Services are provided “as is”, and Serengeti Care makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the suitability of services for specific needs.
11. Privacy & Data Protection
- All personal information collected for scheduling and caregiving services will be handled in accordance with Serengeti Care’s Privacy Policy.
- Serengeti Care does not sell or share recipient information with third parties without consent.
12. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
- Any disputes related to the Gift of Care program shall first be resolved through mediation or arbitration before legal proceedings.
- This policy shall be governed by the laws of the state where the recipient receives the services.
Agreement & Acknowledgment
By purchasing a Gift of Care certificate, you confirm that:
✔ You have reviewed and agreed to the terms and conditions outlined in this policy.
✔ You understand that the Gift of Care certificate must be used within 90 days of purchase.
✔ You acknowledge and accept the refund policy and other stated limitations before completing your purchase.
✔ You confirm that the recipient resides within the geographical regions listed on Serengeti Care’s website.
