Mom found out she had cancer in the hospital. It was too far along to treat. She wanted to go home, and given that she wasn't being treated the hospital wanted her to leave...but her assisted living facility wouldn't let her return without care as she was no longer completely able to care for herself.
I was in a panic - I could help some, but I didn't live nearby. I left messages (during the holidays!) at a dozen caregiving companies. Several didn't get back to me. Most got back to me after a few days, and said they didn't have openings. But Serengeti responded first, and said they could help. And they did...within 24 hours, they had 24/7 caregivers lined up.
We had to make a few adjustments along the way; they were very gracious and made it easy. The caregivers were fantastic - they really made a difference in Mom's life. And mine!
